Ethos
At St. Bernadette’s, we believe our community thrives through a shared journey that unites pupils, staff, parents, and the wider community. Central to this journey are the teachings of Jesus, which guide our actions and shape our values.
Our school mission is rooted in following Jesus, and this core belief underpins everything we do. We encourage every member of our community to engage wholeheartedly in this mission, living out our commitment in every thought, word, and deed. As students grow and develop, our mission is thoughtfully extended in age-appropriate ways, with a specific focus at each stage to deepen understanding, strengthen faith, and support personal development.
Together, we create an environment of love, respect, and collaboration, nurturing spiritual growth, personal responsibility, and a strong sense of purpose, as we strive to reflect the light of Christ in all that we do.
Mission
Our vision for St Bernadette's Catholic Primary School is to enable all children to achieve their full potential in a safe, welcoming and happy learning environment.
We will strive to create responsible citizens who are independent and confident lifelong learners equipped to meet the challenges of a changing future.
This will be achieved within an inclusive school that values every individual and celebrates the diversity of our community.
Values & Virtues
At the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus teaches the people those values that build up the kingdom of God. Assembly and reflection themes at St. Bernadette's Catholic Primary School are rooted in The Beatitudes and Catholic Pupil Profile. The Values we promote through collective worship are the foundation of our school ethos and help us to live by the Gospel Values.
Children at St. Bernadette's Catholic Primary School are growing to be . . .
Grateful for their own gifts, for the gift of other people, and for the blessings of each day; and generous with their gifts, becoming men and women for others.
Attentive to their experience and to their vocation; and discerning about the choices they make and the effects of those choices.
Compassionate towards others, near and far, especially the less fortunate; and loving by their just actions and forgiving words.
Faith-filled in their beliefs and hopeful for the future.
Eloquent and truthful in what they say of themselves, the relations between people, and the world.
Learned, finding God in all things; and wise in the ways they use their learning for the common good.
Curious about everything; and active in their engagement with the world, changing what they can for the better.
Intentional in the way they live and use the resources of the earth, guided by conscience; and prophetic in the example they set to others.
