Visitors to St. Bernadette's Catholic Primary School
At St. Bernadette's, we welcome a variety of visitors to our school, including those with professional roles such as educational psychologists and social workers, contractors working on building or grounds maintenance, children’s relatives, and guests attending school activities like sports days.
We are committed to ensuring that all visitors contribute positively to our school community while prioritising the safety and well-being of our pupils. To this end, we follow clear procedures for managing visitors:
Electronic sign-in: All visitors are required to sign-in using our InVentory device. A badge will be printed off for you that must be worn during the duration of your visit. By signing into school as a visitor you are agreeing to abide by our School Policy and Procedures.
Relatives and Event Visitors: For visitors such as children’s relatives or those attending events like sports days, we do not request DBS checks or barred list checks, nor do we ask to see existing DBS certificates. However, we use professional judgment to determine whether such visitors need to be escorted or supervised during their visit.
Professional Visitors: For those visiting in a professional capacity, we require identification and confirmation that they have undergone the necessary DBS checks (or that their employer has verified these checks). In line with safeguarding guidelines, we do not request to see DBS certificates in these cases.
External Organisations: We value the contributions of external organisations in enriching our children’s education. However, careful consideration is given to the suitability of their involvement, including the educational value, age-appropriateness of the content, and whether relevant checks are necessary.
Our safeguarding policy outlines the procedures and expectations for all visitors to ensure that everyone who enters our premises upholds our commitment to a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment for our pupils.
