Our School Prayers

OUR PRAYER TO OUR LADY ST. BERNADETTE

St. Bernadette, help me today,

To listen, watch and pray,

So that I can share Jesus,

With all I meet along the way.

OUR PRAYERS

On this page you will find the individual prayers for each class and our prayer booklet, which contains the prayers that your child will say during their time at our school.

Your child will have brought a personal copy home, please take time to talk about them with your child/children and share them with them as often as you can.

Please feel free to download a copy from this website should you need to.

Our Father

Our Father who are in heaven

Hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done.

On earth as it is in heaven,

Give us this day our daily bread

And forgive us our trespasses,

As we forgive those who trespass against us,

And lead us not into temptation,

But deliver us from evil,

Amen.

Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace,

The Lord is with thee.

Blessed art thou among women

And blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, mother of God,

Pray for us sinners,

Now, and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Glory be to the Father

And to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.

As it was in the beginning,

Is now and ever shall be,

World without end.

Amen.

Guardian Angel, my guarding dear

To whom God’s love commits me here.

Ever this day be at my side

To light, to guard, to rule and guide

Amen.

YEAR 2 PRAYERS

All those above plus:

The Eternal Rest

Eternal rest, give unto them O Lord

And let perpetual light shine upon them,

May they rest in peace.

Amen.

YEAR 3 PRAYERS

All those above plus:

Act of Sorrow

Oh my God because you are so good,

I am very sorry that I have sinned against you

And with the help of your grace I will not sin again.

Amen.

The Confiteor

I confess to almighty God and to you, my brother and sisters,

That I have greatly sinned in my thoughts and in my words,

In what I have done and in what I have failed to do,

Through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault;

Therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin, all the Angels and Saints and you,

My brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God.

The Angelus

The angel of the Lord declared unto Mary.

And she conceived of the Holy Spirit.

Hail Mary …..

Behold the handmaid of the Lord.

Be it done unto me according to Thy word.

Hail Mary .....

And the Word was made flesh.

And dwelt among us.

Hail Mary …..

Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God.

That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Lord, fill our hearts with your love,

And as you revealed to us by an angel

The coming of your Son as man,

So lead us through his suffering and death

To the glory of his resurrection,

For he lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,

One God, for ever and ever.

Amen.

YEAR 4 PRAYERS

All those above plus:

The Memorare

Remember, O most loving Virgin Mary,

That it is a thing unheard of,

That anyone ever had recourse

To your protection, Implored your help,

Or sought your intercession,

And was left forsaken.

Filled therefore,

With confidence in your goodness,

I fly to you, O Mother, Virgin of virgins.

To you I come, before you I stand,

A sorrowful sinner.

Despise not my poor words,

O mother of the Word of God,

But graciously hear, and grant my prayer

Amen.

The Magnificat

My soul glorifies the Lord

My spirit rejoices in God, my Saviour.

He looks on his servant in her lowliness

Henceforth all ages will call me blessed.

The Almighty works marvels for me.

Holy his name!

His mercy is from age to age,

On those who fear him.

He puts forth his arm in strength

And scatters the proud-hearted.

He casts the mighty from their thrones,

And raises the lowly.

He fills the starving with good things,

Sends the rich away empty.

He protects Israel, his servant,

Remembering his mercy,

The mercy promised to our fathers,

To Abraham and his sons forever.

YEAR 6 PRAYERS

All those above plus:

Prayer to the Holy Spirit

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of the faithful,

And kindle in them the fire of your love.

Send forth your Spirit, and they shall be created,

And you will renew the face of the earth.

O God who has taught the hearts of the faithful

By the light of the Holy Spirit,

Grant us in the same Spirit to be truly wise,

And ever to rejoice in his consolation,

Through Jesus Christ Our Lord,

Amen.
