International School Award

The International School Award is awarded to Schools that have shown commitment to embedding international awareness and understanding within their class and School.  Children will increase their knowledge and awareness of other countries, cultures and languages.  They will gain confidence in communicating with people from different backgrounds and gain skills to live in a global and mobile society.  

 

There are 4 levels:-

 

Foundation 

Intermediate 

Accreditation

Reaccreditation

 

 

When we have completed the levels we will receive a certificate, have links with overseas Schools and be able to display their Logo on our Letterheads.

 

WORK TOWARDS OUR AWARD

YEAR 3 CHINA EXPERIENCE - THURSDAY 15TH JULY 2021

 

With Miss Smith's move to China to teach internationally at the beginning of the new academic year, to celebrate this move Year 3 had a China Experience Day today.  The children came to School dressed in the colours of the Chinese flag, then spent the day learning about the Chinese culture and tried a range of different experiences.  The children made Chinese Lanterns, wrote in Chinese, sampled some Chinese cuisine and made their own fortune cookies.

BASTILLE DAY 2022 - 14TH JULY 2022

 

Today was Red, White and Blue day in School to celebrate Bastille Day in France.  Bastille Day celebrates the storming of the Bastille in Paris, France which signalled the start of the French Revolution.  It is the French National Day and is called La Fete Nationale in France.  Bastille Day is celebrated on 14th July.  It was on July 14, 1789 that the storming of the Bastille took place.  In France the holiday is often referred to as the Fourteenth of July.  Bastille Day is celebrated throughout France.  it is also celebrated by other countries and especially French Speaking people and communities in other countries.

 

The day was full of exciting French activities to learn more about their culture.  The children created flags, sang French songs and learnt traditional French tales.  There was a competition for the best Eiffel Tower in each class and there was an opportunity to sample some French food.

 

EUROPEAN DAY OF LANGUAGES - 26 SEPTEMBER 2022

 

The European Day of Languages is a celebration of the amazing number and variety of languages spoken across Europe.  This special day promotes language learning and celebrates the linguistic and cultural diversity of Europe.  In School the children researched lots of different countries, their location in Europe, famous landmarks, people and food.  They also learnt to say a few words in the different languages.

Parents/carers were then invited to join us for an Assembly where we celebrated what the children had learnt.

 

BASTILLE DAY - 14TH JULY 2023

 

This year each class was given a different French Artist to research and draw.

BLACK HISTORY MONTH - OCTOBER 2023

 

Black History Month is an annual observance originating in the United States, where it is also known as African-American History Month. It has received official recognition from governments in the United States and Canada, and more recently has been observed in Ireland and the United Kingdom.  Throughout October each class researched a different black person from History each day.  At the end of October parents/carers were invited into School to look at the children's work.  Below is a sample of some of the people that we researched.

 

KS2 CHRISTMAS PERFORMANCE OF CHILDREN OF THE WORLD - DECEMBER 2023

 

This years Christmas performance is Children of the World.  It is a Christmas musical about different festive customs around the World.
