BASTILLE DAY 2022 - 14TH JULY 2022

Today was Red, White and Blue day in School to celebrate Bastille Day in France.  Bastille Day celebrates the storming of the Bastille in Paris, France which signalled the start of the French Revolution.  It is the French National Day and is called La Fete Nationale in France.  Bastille Day is celebrated on 14th July.  It was on July 14, 1789 that the storming of the Bastille took place.  In France the holiday is often referred to as the Fourteenth of July.  Bastille Day is celebrated throughout France.  it is also celebrated by other countries and especially French Speaking people and communities in other countries.

The day was full of exciting French activities to learn more about their culture.  The children created flags, sang French songs and learnt traditional French tales.  There was a competition for the best Eiffel Tower in each class and there was an opportunity to sample some French food.

EUROPEAN DAY OF LANGUAGES - 26 SEPTEMBER 2022

The European Day of Languages is a celebration of the amazing number and variety of languages spoken across Europe.  This special day promotes language learning and celebrates the linguistic and cultural diversity of Europe.  In School the children researched lots of different countries, their location in Europe, famous landmarks, people and food.  They also learnt to say a few words in the different languages.

Parents/carers were then invited to join us for an Assembly where we celebrated what the children had learnt.
